Featured Speaker
Kerry Lockyer
Founding Director, Oomph Learning and Development Ltd
Kerry is an award-winning People Development Expert, TEDx Speaker, facilitator, coach and self-confessed superfan of colourful behavioural tools that help us understand ourselves — and each other — better.
For more than 25 years, she has helped thousands of individuals, teams and organisations understand what makes people tick, using that insight to build stronger relationships, better conversations and more human-centred workplaces.
In a world increasingly full of AI, automation and digital shortcuts, Kerry believes it’s still human relationships that often make the difference between success and failure — whether an idea lands, a conversation works, a stakeholder says yes, or a team truly gets behind something.
For PAs, EAs and VAs, often the connectors, influencers and calm centres of the organisations they support, that human insight has never mattered more.
Known for her warmth, humour and infectious energy, Kerry creates practical, memorable learning experiences that blend behavioural insight, emotional intelligence and real-world workplace challenges.
Beyond the stage, Kerry is a mentor with The Girls’ Network, a proud mum of two daughters and someone who believes the best learning feels like laughter, lightbulb moments and finally getting the instruction manual for all the weird and wonderful humans you work with!
Session 1
Start with You: What your colour preferences reveal about YOU
PAs, EAs and VAs spend their days reading people, juggling priorities, managing expectations and often being the calm centre of someone else’s storm. But how often do you get the chance to pause and understand your own style?
This opening session introduces a simple, colourful model of personality and behaviour that helps you understand what gives you energy, what drains it, and how you naturally prefer to communicate, plan, decide and respond under pressure.
Attendees will explore their own likely colour preferences and what those preferences can mean in a busy assistant role – from managing detail and deadlines to building relationships, anticipating needs and staying effective when the day changes without warning.
Because when you understand yourself more clearly, you can use your strengths more intentionally and spot when your natural style might need a little flex.

Session 2
The Human Radar : Understanding what people really need from you
One person wants the headline. Another wants the detail. One stakeholder changes direction every five minutes. Another needs time to think before committing.
For PAs, EAs and VAs, success often depends on tuning into different people quickly and adapting without losing yourself in the process. This session explores how personality colours show up in emails, meetings, requests, deadlines, diary changes and those tiny moments that either build trust or create resistance.
Attendees will learn how to spot behavioural clues, understand what different people may need from them, and adjust their communication in practical, professional ways.
The focus is not on putting people in boxes. It is about giving you a shared language for working with difference, reducing frustration and making relationships feel easier, calmer and more productive.
Session 3
The Influence Switch: Colourful Ways to Build Trust and Get Things Done Well
How often are you expected to influence people, situations and outcomes? You may need to protect a leader’s time, challenge unrealistic requests, manage competing priorities or say no – without sounding difficult, defensive or dismissive.
This final session brings colour preferences to life in the moments that matter most: pressure, pace, challenge and change. Attendees will explore how different styles can react when things feel urgent or uncertain, and how to communicate in a way that keeps trust high while still being clear about what is needed.
Using practical examples, we will look at how to flex your language, manage conflict, push back appropriately and support others more effectively – even when emotions, deadlines or expectations are running high.
Because personality insight is only useful if it helps you do something different on Monday morning.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the day, participants will be able to:
- Understand your own colour preferences and how these influence communication, organisation and decision-making.
- Recognise different behavioural styles in colleagues, leaders, clients and stakeholders – and adapt with more confidence.
- Build stronger working relationships by flexing how you communicate, share information, ask questions and manage expectations.
- Leave with a practical, memorable language you can use immediately to improve conversations, collaboration and influence.
