A Matter of Confidence
Melanie will be delving into the age-old issue of confidence and its ever-increasing importance in the evolution of the role of the Executive Assistant. Drawing on her personal experiences, she will share the challenges she has faced in her own career which have seen her develop her skills to become an influential member of the Executive Leadership Team in the business where she works.
She will briefly explore some of the science behind confidence and the importance of adopting a growth mindset as well as offering practical strategies on how to step into your power to become a key influencer enabling you to unleash your full potential.
At the end of the presentation, attendees should have a greater understanding of:
- The science behind confidence
- Growth mindset versus Fixed Mindset
- Fear versus courage
- Stepping into their power
- How to hold healthy boundaries including difficult conversations
- Stepping into action and making lasting change
- Summary of useful supporting resources
Melanie’s career has spanned close to 40 years and in 2016 she was awarded the title of Yorkshire PA of the Year.
She spent the first 20 years of her career at PwC where she supported three successive Senior Partners of the Leeds office before taking on a role as the Team & Project Co-ordinator for the firm’s Family Business Forum across Europe and the Middle East.
She joined Bettys & Taylors in 2002, initially in the role of Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of the Group. Her current role is Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Taylors, and she is also a member of the Taylors Leadership Team.
Melanie has a passion for exploring the challenges and confidence issues that individuals can often experience in influencing upwards in an organisation, particularly with those in positions of authority.
In addition, Melanie has acted as a one-to-one developer and coach within Bettys & Taylors for the last nine years. She is deeply committed to her own learning and development and to gaining greater insight into what enables people to grow and unlock their potential.
Melanie is also a member of The PA Hub.
