Johnny Lawless is a Mental Fitness Consultant and creator of the Mind Gym programme. A former professional rugby league player, Johnny now works with organisations, teams and communities across the UK, delivering practical, stigma-free mental fitness training.
After experiencing significant work-related stress earlier in his career, Johnny became passionate about changing how we approach wellbeing at work — shifting the focus from reactive mental health support to proactive mental fitness, in the same way we train physical fitness.
Johnny’s sessions are known for being engaging, relatable and grounded in real-world experience. He combines simple science with practical tools that people can use immediately, covering topics such as awareness, stress, habits, sleep, thoughts and behaviours.
He is also the creator of M8CHECK, a digital mental fitness check-in tool that helps individuals regularly reflect on how they are thinking, feeling and coping. M8CHECK supports ongoing self-awareness and early intervention alongside live training.
